MidAmerica Border Collie Rescue: Making the Most Out of Every Donation
Rescuing is about more than getting these beautiful Border Collies adopted into a new family. What we have discovered by rescuing, is that each dog teaches us something about ourselves. It is also about educating the public and educating our children to the fact that pet ownership should be a lifetime commitment, and it is about trying to put a dent in the pet overpopulation problem. A Border Collie is totally dependent on the owner and deserves to be treated with respect. When we send our rescued Border Collies on to their new homes, they heal hearts, provide loving companionship, help lighten the load, and put a smile on a face.
There are times when a Border Collie will come into our care and require extensive medical help before we can even begin to think about finding a new home. Our adoption fees will usually cover the routine veterinary care for a male dog who needs vaccinations and neutering. But a female who needs to be spayed and vaccinated … well, her vet bill might exceed the adoption fee.
Somehow we have to come up with the funds to meet the vet bills. Never do we want to find ourselves in the position where we are unable to help a Border Collie because we lack the funds. During the past year we have had several Border Collies who were in need of some serious help. And all of these dogs exceeded our adoption fee to get them healthy again.
We cannot save them all – but without your help, we cannot save the ones who really need the help. Too often a Border Collie will enter our doors with an infection, broken bones, heartworms and intestinal worms, in need of surgery, and your tax deductible donation can help us meet the veterinary expenses. All of us at MidAmerica Border Collie Rescue are volunteers, and your donation, in its entirety, goes to helping these rescued dogs.
